Pros & Cons
Pros:
If I were to cover all the things we liked about the Lifespan TR1200i folding treadmill I could write a book but these are the main features that stood out for us;
Easy Assembly – the treadmill comes pre-assembled and most buyers have reported few problems getting the treadmill up and working within an hour. It is a heavy piece of home fitness equipment though so it’s probably best to have at least two strong people around to move and assemble it.
We have also noted some problems regarding delivery and assembly which we cover in-depth in our con’s.
Easy adjustment of the speed and incline controls – it was noted that it was a big plus that as you are jogging it is easy to adjust the speed and incline from the grips of the handlebar controls instead of needing to slow down in order to reach the console to make these adjustments as with other models.
Lack of noise – take it from us all treadmills make some noise especially when you are pounding away at speed but this machine is quieter than most and can hardly be heard even at the 5-6mph range.
Safety – There is a safety key for households with little children and a pause feature if you need to stop your workout to answer the door or phone. This Lifespan treadmill also has a magnetic safety key to stop the machine quickly and safely if you need to do so. Another great feature is that when you start the treadmill it starts counting down to tell you that it is going to slowly start it doesn’t catch you unaware and start suddenly.
Large Walking Platform – For people who use their treadmill for walking it was noted that it has a giant walking platform and you can get a really long stretch or stride if you so wish.
Intelli-Step Counting Feature – for older users or people who have previously led a sedentary lifestyle the goal of walking 5,000 steps a day to have a healthy body would be a good starting point. The LifeSpan Tr1200i Folding Treadmill works like a pedometer and indicates how many steps you’ve taken during your work out routine.
USB Port & Fitness Club Membership – There are many wonderful features of the LifeSpan TR1200i Folding Treadmill but perhaps the most talked about is the USB port and the Fitness Club “membership kit” that allows users to keep track of how much time is spent exercising, how many steps have been taken or how many calories have been burned as well as the average pulse which are all displayed online in a daily and weekly exercise journal. When you exercise all your data is automatically saved to a USB storage device. Your own personalized online account lets you see a detailed report of your exercise and health results and also gives you access to customized workout plans.
The work out plans have been particularly popular as an addition to running or walking on the treadmill. You are provided with an exercise program each week dependent on equipment you already have such as dumbbells or stretch bands, as well as your interests and areas of the body you are targeting. There are also videos and images to support you if you don’t know or can’t remember the exercises.
This is especially beneficial if you travel a lot or are a way from your treadmill as you can carry on maintaining your fitness goals without additional costs.
Consumers have likened it to having your own personal trainer!
The Warranty – The LifeSpan TR1200i Folding Treadmill has a pretty good warranty that covers;
Lifetime on Frame and Motor
3 Year on Parts
1 Year on Labor

Cons:
It is not easy to find negative things to say about the LifeSpan TR1200i folding treadmill but we will address the issues that were highlighted to be as impartial as possible;
Cup Bottle Holders – One thing that has been commented on by those using the treadmill is that the cup/bottle holders that come on each side of the console are really deep and can completely swallow a standard 16 oz water bottle. To correct this issue one can simply place a something in the bottom to raise the bottle higher
Sharp Edge – Another complaint is that there is a sharp plastic edge along the seams of both arms that can probably be shaved down with a razor blade to make the arms more comfortable to use.
Speakers – A minor quibble but some reviewers are saying that the speakers are not great sounding our verdict is yep they are pretty average but this is a treadmill not a top of the range stereo system!
Fan – A lack of a fan was another complaint that some reviewers have mentioned but this is easily remedied by buying a small fan and positioning it in the best position for when you are working out, personally I like to build up a bit of sweat when I’m working out so this wouldn’t be an issue for me.
Slow response time for servicing – one of the consumer reviews we read did mention that though it was very easy to deal with LifeSpan and it was easy to get to talk to a real live person it took over a month for a service representative to arrive in their small town. He suggested if you live in a rural area you might reconsider buying this treadmill.
Delivery & Setting up the Lifespan Tr1200i folding Treadmill – We noted that while pretty much everybody who purchased this treadmill gave it glowing reviews once it was set up, they did have some issues with the delivery and initial setting up.
This is a heavy piece of machinery weighing in at over 200lbs and the shipping company only offers minimal delivery for example inside the front door or in the garage so if you are by yourself and don’t have friends or family members around to help you this can be a problem.
One of the guys who purchased it got round it by offering the driver $20 to help him haul it up the stairs.
The safest and easiest method though comes at cost;
You can purchase a Treadmill Doctor Concierge Assembly Service once you’ve purchased your treadmill. Basically this involves delivery and set up by a certified technician.
You can get a discount of $100 using this service through Amazon but they get mixed reviews, there’s a link below so you can decide if it’s the route you want to take, there’s a video as well if your eyes are tired from all this reading.

Our Conclusion
Paying out $1,000 for a piece of home gym equipment is not something to be taken lightly but we believe this is one of the better treadmills on the market and the added fitness club membership makes sure that you give your whole body a work out. I believe that when you invest in a quality piece of home gym equipment you are investing in your health which is a priceless commodity. So we believe the LifeSpan TR1200i folding treadmill will carry on being one of the top rated treadmills for 2012.
