Overview of the Horizon Fitness EX-59 Elliptical Trainer

The new SIXstar Certified platform helps support you in a fully upright position when using the Horizon Fitness EX59 Elliptical Trainer which means you maintain good posture. The handlebars are also placed so that they are easy to grip without you leaning forward to grasp them.

The Horizon Fitness EX-59 Elliptical Trainer comes with ten pre-programmed workouts which compares with other Horizon elliptical training machines that sell for a lot, lot more than this one.

The Horizon Fitness EX-59 Elliptical Trainer gives you 10 levels of resistance so you can tailor your workout to be as easy or hard as you want.

The 18 inch stride length is very competitive for an elliptical machine at this price. It will let the majority of users to maintain a full, comfortable stride when running or walking.

How much is the Horizon Fitness EX-59 Elliptical Trainer?

To find a decent elliptical machine you would usually have to pay around the $1,000 mark at a minimum but the Horizon Fitness EX-59 Elliptical Trainer  is a machine that breaks the rules at a list price of $800.  Of course this is still a large sum of money to pay for a piece of home gym equipment but we have checked at Amazon and they do have a big discount on this product at the moment click here to see what the current price is.

Who would buy the Horizon Fitness EX-59 Elliptical Trainer?

Reading through the consumer reviews of the Horizon Fitness EX59 Elliptical Trainer we found that a wide variety of users were pleased with this home gym equipment. They included young and elderly users as well as people recovering from injuries.

We did find mixed reports on this machine from taller users with one man of 6ft 3inches  commenting that the machine was not suitable for taller people while another buyer commented as follows; ‘I am 6 feet 2 inch and the stride length is more than adequate. I was concerned about that and is the reason I chose this machine because other machines I was looking at had a slightly shorter length.’ We have noticed that taller users [6ft 2inch+]  do seem to have problems with some pieces of home gym equipment.

Pros & Cons

product name prosPros:

The EX59 is very user friendly because it has a spot for placing a MP3 player or ipod as well as a book stand for those whom like to read while jogging. There is an audio input jack with cord, speakers and a place to plug in your headphones into the elliptical. It doesn’t just have a bottle holder like other models but also two smaller side holders where users can place a wallet or cellphone or perhaps keys.Horizon Fitness EX-59 Elliptical Trainer

Additional features that provide comfort while exercising include the fan that has 3 different settings, preset programs and 2 options for changing resistance quickly

While in use the elliptical trainer is smooth and quiet. It feels very stable and sturdy while working out and the footpad is big which adds to the comfort level.

Another thing we like about the Horizon Fitness EX-59 elliptical trainer is the warranty which matches and even exceeds many elliptical trainers that cost double the price. With this home gym equipment you get lifetime warranty coverage on the frame and twenty years cover for the brake system. Parts and labor coverage is for only one year.

product name consCons:

One negative mentioned by reviewers is that the machine does beep excessively when you first start to use it, beeps loudly when shutting off and can be annoying when you are using it while others in the household are sleeping.

The console is pretty basic and does not show some of the popular stuff like weights. Another negative is that the speed indicator only shows speed in half mph increments.

The console also lacks an on/off switch, which would come in handy because you need to plug it in each time and unplug it when done. Otherwise when not in use it will eventually “go to sleep” but a switch to turn off would be a good feature for the manufacturer to add to this model.

It must also be noted that this piece of home gym equipment is very heavy so be sure to set it up where it will be used because it is difficult to move around.

Lastly as we mentioned before there have been mixed reports from tall people using this machine.

Our Conclusion

All in all the Horizon Fitness EX-59 Elliptical Trainer is very quiet, gives good workouts, has a simple designed screen, good quality speakers and is solidly made. It does not take up a lot of space so it is good for anyone no matter if they live in an apartment or a home. With it’s great consumer reviews, competitive price and awesome warranty we don’t hesitate in recommending the Horizon Fitness EX-59 Elliptical Trainer.
